Anna's Kitchen

A little special, yet somehow nostalgic — home cooking from Russia, Georgia, and Uzbekistan.

Living in Tokyo, you can experience cuisine from all over the world. But it is surprisingly rare to find food that people genuinely eat at home.

Our story

That is how Anna's Kitchen began.

In Japan, Russian cuisine still feels somewhat distant to many people. Borscht, pirozhki, beef stroganoff — people may recognize the names, but few know how these dishes are truly enjoyed in everyday homes.

Yet authentic Russian home cooking is much warmer, more comforting, and more familiar than many imagine.

Because it was shaped in a cold climate, Russian food culture has always valued slow-cooked soups, the aroma of freshly baked bread, and the warmth of gathering around the family table.

Anna's Kitchen wanted to bring that warmth of Russian home culture to Tokyo.

On July 11, 2023, we opened our first restaurant in Meguro. It was never a flashy restaurant. But over time, guests began telling us: "It feels strangely nostalgic." "It's my first time trying Russian food, but it feels comforting."

That is the kind of place Anna's Kitchen became.

Japanese guests discovering Russian cuisine for the first time. Russian-speaking guests becoming emotional as they remember home. People enjoying conversation over a glass of Georgian or Armenian wine.

People from different cultures and backgrounds, sharing the same table and the same meal.

Food is a culture that can be understood without words.

A warm bowl of soup can create a new connection. A shared meal can bring people closer together.

Anna's Kitchen hopes to always remain that kind of place.

Our concept

Anna's Kitchen Concept

Anna's Kitchen was created to bring the home-style cooking of Russia, Georgia, and Uzbekistan closer to everyday life in Japan.

Almost every dish we serve is handmade in-house, based on recipes our chef has refined through many years of experience and training. We focus on warm, comforting food made with care and authenticity.

Our restaurant is designed to feel welcoming and relaxed — a place where friends can enjoy wine and conversation, families can experience a different culture, and Russian-speaking guests can feel a connection to home.

Through food, we hope to make the cultures of Russia, Georgia, and Uzbekistan feel more familiar and approachable to people in Japan.

Beyond language and nationality, we believe in sharing the same table and enjoying the same meal together.

That is what we at Anna's Kitchen value most.
